Slobber-Knocker Game: Ravens Rest Before Steel Town

What exactly is a slobber-knocker as it relates to the game of football?

A slobber-knocker game is a hard-hitting battle and I mean hard-hitting where players are getting their slobber knocked all over the place… it’s a really physical game.  ~Mike Dahl on Ravens versus Tennessee game, who is a former professional football player (highlights include playing center for Dan Marino-University of Pitt. days) and current football coach at the high-school and recreation level.   That’s a good visual Mike Dahl, thank you! And I’m digging the word.

With the Steelers and Ravens Series tied 4-4 (Pitt. won both this season in nail-biting, heart throbbing fashion) over the last four years we can surely expect another slobber-knocker on Sunday, especially since it is for all the AFC Cherries…

I was enamored with a quote from Pittsburgh’s head coach Mike Tomlin after the Steeler’s win yesterday when he was asked about matching up with the Ravens.  Tomlin responded in a matter-of-fact kind of  way saying  something along the lines of: it wouldn’t matter if these two teams were scrimmaging, it’d still be a tough, good game.    Right on coach!

So after such a slobber-knocker Saturday, there are questions as to who is in and who is out on the Ravens side…up until this point, 5:41 pm the Ravens have not released the injury lists.  So the following comes from what I just saw on WMAR TV:  T-Sizzle (shoulder) is expecting to play; Samari Rolle who had an injury to his groin is uncertain (that’s a tough one with so little recovery time);  Jim Leonhard (concussion) is unknown and Willie Anderson (shoulder) – did not say. LeRon McLain had an ankle injury and wasn’t mentioned.

Bottom line:  Time to rest up Ravens players, we need you…same for fans…we need you.  We are about to prove that three times is is definitely a charm when you meet  up with the boys from Charm city.  Steelers won’t get us again.  They just won’t.
